Tom Nichols

Tom Nichols is a widely-respected thinker who has been a columnist for USA Today & The Atlantic, and a professor at Harvard & Dartmouth. He has written several critically-acclamed books and regularly appears as a commentator on top TV talk shows, including those on CNN. MSNBC, NBC and BBC. Tom was even a champion on the knowledge-based TV game show Jeopardy.

Tom Nichols on Gen Jones:
Tom identifies strongly as a member of Generation Jones, and has often referenced Gen Jones on social media, including tweeting about Gen Jones over 30 times between 2020 – 2024 to his over 700,000 Twitter followers. He’s also written elsewhere about Gen Jones, like in a December 2021 article in The Atlantic, where Tom wrote: “I just turned 61 years old, and people my age know what that means at Christmas. No, it’s not about remembering to double up on our statins before chugging the eggnog. Very funny. Ha ha. I mean, of course, that my age makes me a member of Generation Jones, a child of the late 1960s and early 1970s.” In January 2024, he wrote about actress Jodie Foster: “She’s so Gen Jones and I am here for it.”  In April 2024, he wrote: “…I was part of that Gen Jones demographic notch. I started college in Boston in 1979 and there wasn’t nearly this level of privileged performance art…” In reference to a nostalgic pop culture reference, Tom wrote in July 2024: “You had to be Generation Jones and totally tied to watching videos on MTV.

Tiffany Cross

Tiffany Cross

Tiffany Cross is an on-air TV personality, author, political operative and activist. She has done on-air commentary and analysis for several TV and radio networks, including CNN, BBC, BET, and SiriusXM. She has hosted her own show on MSNBC called The Cross Connection. She has been a Fellow at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. She was the managing editor of The Beat DC. Tiffany has also spent considerable time on the campaign trail having both covered and worked on numerous local, state, and federal campaigns.

Tiffany has factored Generation Jones into her on-air commentary as well as her strategy with various political campaigns. While she is a member of Gen X herself, she recognizes the crucial importance of the Gen Jones cohort of voters. She has brought up Gen Jones on TV and radio shows as well as on social media. For example, in April 2024, she tweeted to her over 300,000 Twitter followers a re-tweet reference to comic Larry Wilmore’s generational identity: “Larry, you’re between Boomers and Gen X. David Rothkopf

David Rothkopf is a much-acclaimed political commentator. He regularly appears as a pundit on TV networks, including NBC, CNN, ABC, MSNBC, PBS and BBC. He is also a prolific writer for publications like the New York Times, Washington Post, USA Today, the Financial Times, the Daily Beast, Foreign Policy and Foreign Affairs. He is a member of the Board of Contributors of USA Today. He has written ten critically-praised books about politics and international affairs. He has taught courses at Columbia University, Georgetown University and Johns Hopkins University, and lectured at Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Oxford, Cambridge, and Stanford.

Born in 1955, David has mentioned his membership in Generation Jones multiple times, like when he tweeted to his over 300,000 Twitter followers here in November 2022: “You could say I’m a Boomer or Generation Jones. But for me, watching the Artemis launch, it reminded me in a deep visceral way that we were the kids of moonshot, defined more than anything by the promise & drama of the space program. Moving to see us reaching for the stars again.”

Bill Scher is is a prominent American political pundit and writer. Early in his career, he was a regular commentator for Air America Radio’s The Majority Report hosted by Sam Seder and Janeane Garofalo. Since then, he has frequently appeared as a political pundit on the major TV talk networks, especially on MSNBC, CNN and PBS. He also writes about politics; in addition to his bestselling books, he regularly writes for Politico, RealClearPolitics, and The Washington Post. His 2012 op-ed in The New York Times about liberals and corporate power received major national attention.

Bill Scher on Gen Jones:
Bill is a GenXer, but has an avid interest in the political influence of Generation Jones. He has publicly brought up Gen Jones in various contexts, like here in response to a discussion about early college political activism, he wrote in July 2022: “Clear sign of Generation Jones”
