Vernon Reid

Vernon Reid was the driving force behind, and the primary songwriter of, the rock band Living Colour. Their debut album Vivid sold double Platinum. Their signature song “Cult of Personality” won a Grammy for Best Hard Rock Performance in 1990. They were named Best New Artist at the 1989 MTV Video Music Awards and won their second Grammy Award for their follow-up album Time’s Up (1990). Vernon was recently named No. 66 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time, and he has played with Mick Jagger, Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Santana and B.B. King.

Vernon Reid on Gen Jones:
Born the summer of 1958 (along with other Gen Jones musicians Madonna, Prince and Michael Jackson), Vernon was very excited when he learned of his Gen Jones identity. In January 2022, he wrote: “The Generation Jones! I finally feel at home!” and “I like that…. Generation Jones! That’ll WORK.”
