Rhys Williams

Rhys Williams is a widely-respected academic whose work resides primarily at the intersection of religion and sociology. He is a Professor of Sociology and Chair of the Department of Sociology at Loyola University Chicago. He is also Director of the McNamara Center for the Social Study of Religion. From 2003-08 he was editor of the Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion, was President of the Association for the Sociology of Religion in 2009-10 and President of the Society for the Scientific Study of Religion, 2011-12. He has also written several important books in his field, as well as many well-received journal articles.

Rhys Williams on Gen Jones

Born in 1955, Rhys identifies strongly as a member of Generation Jones, and has publicly brought up Gen Jones in a variety of contexts. For example, in a discussion about the retirement prospects for specifically Gen Jones members, he said in February 2023: “This generation will be kept working longer.”
